Summer Tanning

Hello!
Long time no hear! Trying to pop in here every once in a while to save face ;-) This post lists all my tips on achieving a great tan - with NO tanning beds!

First and foremost - you should always, always wear SPF/sunscreen of some sort before going into the sun or outdoors. This is NOT optional.

My ALL NATURAL tips:

1. prepping your skin: EXFOLIATE - it is absolutely important to rub away the dead skin cells or any loose, rough skin, and oils before you go out into the sun. I do this twice a week.

2. carotene and caffeine - There are a lot of tanning lotions on the market that contain both of these ingredients. These boost your tan making it more glowing and richer!

4. Glitter!  tanning oil/lotion. Glitter attracts sun rays! Not sure how it is elsewhere, but in the US, you can get tanning lotions and oils which already have the glitter in them. If you can't find any, just  mix your own glitter in! I suggest you use fine glitter, almost like powder, and not chunky glitter for easier removal.

5. Cocoa butter works wonders!
Yes, it works wonders when it comes to EVERYTHING but even so on tanning!  Once you've achieved a nice tan, you can start using it to intensify your tan even more, and be even more bronzed! I usually get mine at a local drugstore. Just rub it on your skin and you're done! It will make it super smooth and moisturize your skin along with giving you a better tan! It does have a coconut smell to it, which I love but not everyone does!

6. Tan near the water, or in the water on a float. If you go in the water every 20 minutes or so, you'll tan much easier! Water reflects and intensifies the sun rays!

7. Hydrate: Speaking of water, it’s important to drink plenty of water when you’re in the sun, mostly to minimize any stress on your body and the risk of dehydration.

Just a friendly reminder of my first note  - WEAR SUNSCREEN!

If your skin is sensitive, you're fair skinned, or you just want protection against harmful UVB rays, please don't forget to use sunscreen! I've only ever been sunburnt once in my life, thanks to my naturally olive skin and I STILL use sunscreen, always in my adult years. If you don't feel you get a good enough tan when wearing sunscreen, try putting sunscreen on, then applying an all natural coconut oil to your skin to attract the sun's rays, but just enough to break your top layer of skin only.

the movie SpUn xox

Just recently, I watched a movie that completely blew me away. I was intrigued by the four stars it received on Netflix and I am a big Brittany Murphy fan (RIP), so I decided to give it a try. It is entitled “Spun” and here is the synopsis.

"unique glimpse into the world of methamphetamines has wowed audiences since its debut at the 2002 Toronto International Film Festival, with outstanding performances from Jason Schwartzman, Mena Suvari, John Leguizamo, Brittany Murphy and more. The fast-paced, hard-hitting drama expertly combines the gritty reality of drug addiction with occasional biting humor for an unforgettable look at frantic lives spinning out of control."

The film is a very interesting, unique look into the lives of drug addicts and I honestly loved every second of it. Most of the scenes were very choppy and fast paced and there was also some random images thrown in here and there that made you feel like you were tweeking right along with the characters. Very well done.

So how does this movie fit in with me? Not only do I LOVE Brittney Murphy, Rest In Peace Britney Murphy. But you can’t have a movie about drugs without some hardcore strip club scenes.. Despite my intense love for the style of this film, I felt it played on stereotypes that I really don't believe to be 100% true. For example, in the first club scene, the dancers are walking around with exposed breasts. Although this isn’t a huge deal, it’s not very realistic. In most clubs, you must be completely covered by an outfit while hanging out with customers on the floor. I think this makes sense because why would you show the goods for free? Second of all, the main character goes home with a really beautiful stripper and ends up having wild sex with her. He then keeps her hand cuffed to the bed for three days while he does work for the drug dealer. They don’t really go into detail as to how he knew the dancer prior to this fuck session, but this does not happen. Yes some dancers sleep with customers for a fix or a quick buck, but there was no exchange of any of this (maybe a little drug use). Also, is she really that big of a loser that no one would realize she was missing for three days? And lastly, Nikki, the character played by Brittany Murphy, was dating the drug dealer and seemed more strung out than any of them. Surprise surprise she was also a dancer. I understand that it is only a movie and alot of things are exaggerated for a dramatic effect. But I feel that every movie that has a club scene features a stripper or group of strippers that are completely fucked up to the point where people feel confident saying all dancers suck at life. Some of them definitely do, don’t get me wrong.

What you see in the movies is not always what happens in real life, dude. If that were the case, music would start magically playing through imaginary speakers when we kissed our significant other for the first time. Us ladies would wake up with make up on and you men would always have the perfect pick-up line. And most importantly, everyone would have a happy ending. That, in my opinion, is the biggest joke of all.

trent reznor ;; nine inch nails

trent reznor

he's the lead singer of Nine Inch Nails and someone who I believe single handedly changed rock music forever. He has been around for the past 25 years and in those decades.. hes come out with numerous #1 songs that have put his personal thoughts out there for everyone to see. && it is quite obvious that his defiance not only made him a millionaire but it also made him an icon. He isn’t afraid to break the rules and let people see him for who he is. ... if that isn't inspiration, i don't know what is!

i havent always been a NIN fan, the only song i really liked was "Closer." It wasn't until these past few years that I truly started getting into their music... i was friends with a girl who was obsessed with them who has since moved away, but we still keep in touch and of course our main topic is Nine Inch Nails news... did i mention how upset i was to have missed their show in 2009..ugh, i'll never forgive myself.. lol

as stated above, the first song I ever heard was “Closer” and I was immediately in love by the boldness of the lyrics. I knew what he was getting at and I really liked it. Trent’s words go into motion and it just truly feels amazing.

You let me violate you. You let me desecrate you. You let me penetrate you.
And yes Trent, you can complicate me any day. LOL

Not only did “Closer” tap into the hidden sex kitten inside of me, but other songs really spoke to me as well. The following are some of my favorite lyrics from my favorite NIN songs.

" I hurt myself today .. To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain.. The only thing that's real."

You can have my isolation.

You can have the hate that it brings.
You can have my absence of faith.
You can have my everything.”

“Devils speak of the ways in which she’ll manifest.
Angels bleed from the tainted touch of my caress.
Need to contaminate to alleviate this loneliness.
I now know the depths I reach are limitless.”

“so impressed with all you do
tried so hard to be like you
flew too high and burnt the wing
lost my faith in everything
lick around divine debris
taste the wealth of hate in me
shedding skin succumb defeat
this machine is obsolete
made the choice to go away
drink the fountain of decay
tear a hole exquisite red
fuck the rest and stab it dead
broken bruised forgotten sore
too fucked up to care anymore
poisoned to my rotten core
too fucked up to care anymore”

“In my nothing, you meant everything to me.”

“My moral standing is lying down”.

Are you a NIN fan?
Can any of you tell me what song each of those quotes are from? :)

Make Up Bag Clean Up!

hello beauty queens,

It isn't hard to tell by now how much of an extreme germaphobe i am. So when i saw some tips on how to keep your make up bag super clean, i was instantly drawn in. I then thought of different things i do without even noticing since being a fanatic is such second nature to me, and made a short list below.
Makeup bag.

Most girls don't know that every time you pull out your lip gloss or mascara, bacteria starts to  descend, ready to spread nasty infections such as sties, cold sores and the flu even!! && surprisingly, a new survey from the folks at Q-tips has found that only 34% women clean their makeup bags at least once a year!

press the reset button;;
First of all, dump out everything and clean the bag thoroughly (inside and out) using anti-bacterial wipes or baby shampoo - Dawn sometimes works due to its grease fighting. Allow to dry completely before replacing the contents. Next, wash all makeup brushes thoroughly, whether or not they seem visibly dirty. This is also the perfect time to take stock of what you are actually using right now and store away the rest in a cool, dry place.
sanitize, sanitize, sanitize;;
I have an abundant supply of 99.9% alcohol, hand sanitizer and antibacterial brush cleansers. Once a month (or after you have had any infection, if you do)-- gently swab all makeup surfaces – blush, compact powder or foundation, lipstick, etc – with the 99% alcohol to DE-germify. And keep a pencil sharpener handy – it’s the best way to keep your brow, eye and lip pencils sanitized. i also sanitize all outsides of each containers.
switch to plastic;;
Powders, dyes and germs latch on to cloth or canvas surfaces, making them difficult to clean. A makeup bag made from plastic, on the other hand, can be easily cleaned with a wet cloth, making it easier to maintain. a lot of people have various thoughts on this as with cloths, you can always throw it in the washer and dryer. only issue i have with that is i'd have to wash it by itself as i wouldnt want any of the poweders or creams getting onto any of the other items in with it.
sharing is not caring;; Try your best not to share make up - especially mascaras and eyeliners. some make think some thing like eye shadows are okay, but if you use your make up brush on it, apply to your eye, go get more, then reapply, you are putting the bacteria and skin cells on that eye shadow now. when your friend goes to use it, the same thing will occur. this is not being selfish–merely smart && safe. Even your own bacteria is something to ward against as much as possible let alone another human beings!
double tasking;;
do not double-task your tools. Lip brushes should only be used on the lips, and the same goes for eyes. This is not a place to  mix-and-match. this is how cross contamination can easily occur. all parts of the face carry different skin bacterium you do not want getting mixed up. your mouth has a ton of acids in it to break down food, would you want any of those getting in your eyes per say? not likely.

make up is life <3

Now for individual make up items, i listed one by one and what i do to
keep them cleaned as best as i can. i got a lot of these tips from a simple google search.
lipstick;;
metal containers are the best to buy as they aren't as bad of a breeding ground for bacteria like plastis ones are. as far as cleaning your lipstick, it’s a two-step method and should be followed every two weeks, or at least once a month. first grab a q-tip, hold it at an angle, slightly twist up your lipstick, and then scrape the top of the lipstick off. you don’t have to remove a large chunk, but instead remove the top layer of the lipstick. second, pour some rubbing alcohol [or shitty vodka] into a small dish and duck your exposed lipstick into the solution for at least 30 seconds. afterwards you can allow it to air dry, or gently wipe dry with a clean tissue.

pencils;;
This includes any type of makeup pencil from lip liner to eyeliner, brow pencil, etc. the simplest way to keep pencils clean is to sharpen them before each use. you don’t have to remove that many layers, just a couple quick twists will do. if your pencils are retractable instead of sharpening, then pour some rubbing alcohol or vodka into a small container then dip the tip of the pencil into the solution for 30-seconds. later air dry or gently wipe dry with a clean tissue.
foundation;;
If you use a liquid foundation in an open bottle that requires the use of your fingertip, then you have to pour out the very top portion of the foundation in order to clean it. This doesn’t always remove all germs, since you tend to shake your foundation. this really bothered me so what i began doing was using q-tips to dip into the bottle instead, usually get a goop on the top of my hand, and use my foundation brush to apply face. of course wash and sanitize your hands every time you begin doing your make up. also use a different clean q-tip each time!

The ideal foundation will come in a pump, enclosed squeeze container, or in a large jar if you use a mousse or thicker cream foundation. the pump foundation is the cleanest, and you only need to take an antibacterial wipe to the pump in order to remove germs. squeeze containers are similar, requiring only the cleaning of the tip with an antibacterial wipe every two weeks. just remember not to touch the tip of the squeeze container with your fingertip, since this can cause germs to go into the container.
cake eyeshadow, powder, blush, & bronzer ;;
cake makeup products such as eye shadow and blush are rather easy to clean. Simply grab a butter knife and scrape the top of the product into the trash can. Just be careful not to press down hard or you’ll break your product into pieces. This is also a good plan if you use a powder often and you form a compacted shiny area on the product, which is caused by oil from your skin.

make up bags && cases;;
Bags and cases that we store our makeup in can get very dirty quickly.  refer to the blog post i posted on keeping your make up bag germ-free! At least twice a month, or at least monthly, you should remove all products from your bag or case and give it a good cleaning. The best and quickest way to do this is with antibacterial wipes. Simple wipe the inside of the bag or case until any makeup residue is gone. do not wipe the outside of your bag or case with antibacterial wipes unless you know that it will not damage the finish.if you feel that your makeup bag or case is still loaded with germs after wiping them down then simply place them in the freezer overnight. The extreme cold will destroy any germs left behind, even after using antibacterial wipes.

make up brushes ;;
Brushes may seem difficult to clean, but it’s actually very easy. i am currently writing a more in depth blog post on this and will be posting later this month. In between washing your makeup brushes. you can spray them with a solution of one part water to nine parts vodka or rubbing alcohol. Spray the solution on a dry cloth and then wipe your brush across it, quickly and easily removing makeup from the surface of the bristles. It’s a good idea to do this after each use, and then follow up with a regimen for washing your makeup brushes every two weeks or every month.

makeup products you can’t clean;;
 There are certain products you can’t clean, and should be thrown out after using it for so long or if you end up with an infection. i have the basic life line of each item listed below.
--the most important product not to clean is mascara. You may think you can clean the wand in order to keep the mascara longer, but germs still get into the product with each use. Besides, mascara isn’t manufactured to last for years so just let it go. in extreme situations, i'll just use water and a baby wipe the wand  down, but that's as far as i will go. it is also dangerous to use a product as opposed to just water as the products may cause eye infections, or a sty.
-- lip gloss in a tube is easier to clean because you can wipe down the tip, but sponge applicators and pan lip gloss can’t really be saved and should be tossed if you have an infection. otherwise, if it smells normal you may be able to keep it for a year or two.

-- disposable makeup sponges are just that; disposable. They are not meant to be washed and reused for months at a time. If you find that you’re getting more breakouts than normal and you use sponge applicators then toss them ASAP.
-- nail polish really can’t be cleaned. So if you have a fungal infection on your nails, or you let a friend use your favorite nail polish and they have an infection just throw that shit out. it’s better to buy a new one than take the risk of getting a nail infection..those are never fun!

So that's it in a nutshell

so tell me how often do you all clean your makeup bag?
tell me in the comments section--i promise not to judge!

if you learned some thing new, or have some thing to add let me know and i'll add it on!!

Love.

love.

think back to a past love that didn't end so well. We all have that one don't we? do you remember your emotions throughout that relationship? that love that made you so vulnerable; that love that opened your chest and your heart just so someone can get inside you and mess you up; so you then build up all these defenses. You build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you.

Or so you think.

But then that one person wanders into your life and you give them a piece of you. they didn't ask for it, and you'd never offer it but they sort of just magnetized themselves to you. they did something to you one day and that just let you know your life will never be the same.

this  is my current boat. it was so weird, and we both tried to deny it but both couldn't. love wasn't always fuzzy bunnies and smiles. love was the enemy sometimes. it takes hostages. it gets inside you, and it eats you and leaves you crying in the darkness. so a simple phrase like "i don't need this.." turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart, just tearing at your heart valves. not just in the mind.. but in the soul. it's a "real gets inside you and rips you apart" pain that they have yet found an anecdote to.

some times i can honestly say i hate love... but i can't stop myself from denying it. what will it take to get it through my head that this can really end up badly?  i guess i can say i am addicted to the pain. addicted to the excitement. addicted to the unknown. addicted to not knowing what the fuck, when the fuck where the fuck or how the fuck things will end up.. and i guess that and that alone is what keeps me hooked.

It's times like these that make me wonder if love is real. is there really an emotion that can last forever, through the ups and downs of a relationship, through thick and thin? or is "love" something we just make up in our heads to satisfy our emotion we feel at the time? Or maybe we use the word "love" as a safety blanket. love is for sure a frightening journey but it is also a wondrous one too and it is important to note that you get out of something what you put into it. so when love comes around, you should def not think of it as so scary, but more enticing, and definitely worth your while.

just as life, love isn't fair either. after a month or so of getting serious, I realized how selfish I was being towards him. He isnt the one who hurt me, who destroyed my entire being yet I was keeping him at arm's length as if he was. Just waiting for me to tell myself "i told you so" He was so patient and so kind, and so understanding. The countless kind gestures made it all clear to me I really can make something work with him.

i am now willing to do anything in the world for him as long as it's good for his well being. im always there by his side, helping him through everything.

You may ask if it is really worth it? Worth possibly losing your individuality for this person? Worth losing the freedom of doing what you want when you want? No one will ever know what you have for another person. It's hard to understand.

All I can recommend is you TRUST YOUR GUT FEELINGS.
Something is telling you this for a reason.
LISTEN TO IT!

menstraul cramps remedies xx

If there is one thing that brings us women all to our worse, it's menstrual cramps! i have always
gotten them the absolute worse! I had to miss two days of school each month, both of which i laid in  the fetal position balling and balling until the two Vicodin, midol kicked in and to when my skin was scorching red from sticking the heat pad on it without the cover because it wasn't working unless i did so! I stopped getting them so bad EVERY month around 19 years old, and now get them to that magnitude every other or two months. && for that i am 1000% grateful.

Along with the period comes the tender boobies, acne prone all over your face and body, the grogginess, the  "ohhhs" and "ahhs" -- as you get older most of which go away. I still get the oohs and ahhs, and tender boobs, but my acne has been great -- haven't had a flare up in forever. I also have a lot of energy due to my diet and vitamins.

I came across an article on the beauty gypsy stating these little home made formulas are the top 5 tried, tested and proven to work !! These menstrual cramp remedies seem to be a big hit...

[1] Guyanese Ginger & Clove Blend
Put 2 teaspoons of powdered ginger, 5 whole cloves and one cup of water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Strain and drink while hot.

[2] Jamaican Wonder Water
Place a quarter cup of white over proof tequila (bonus points if you can get your hands on Cabo Wabo) and some ice cubes in a cocktail glass. Add a splash of water and a twist of lemon. Repeat judiciously! This really works… so well, in fact, that it’s my favorite period pain remedy of the lot!

[3] Chinese Ginger Tea
Pour a cup of boiling water over one tablespoon of freshly grated ginger. Allow the ginger to steep for at least 5 minutes, then strain and drink as a tea.

[4] Mexican Oregano Potion
Place one tablespoon of dried oregano in a tea ball or a small square of muslin cloth. Pour a cup of boiling water over the oregano and allow it to steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea ball and drink the tea while it is hot. Repeat if the menstrual cramps persist.

[5] South American Chamomile Cure
Pour a cup of boiling water over one tablespoon of fresh chamomile flowers (or half a tablespoon of dried chamomile) and allow to steep for 5 minutes. Then strain out the flowers, add some honey and lemon (to taste) and drink while hot. Voila!

What’s your go-to remedy for tackling the cruel menstrual cramps?
Have any of these worked for you, or have not worked for you?

Let me know as I am unsure which to try first!!

Happiness is a state of being

If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way. If you’re not, you’ll find an excuse. Money will not bring you happiness. ...
